Terje Augdal, aka “Treken89” at PokerStars, is a highly successful, professional Norwegian poker player whose bankroll has seen exponential growth over the last years. He has managed to cash in three major live poker tournaments since 2008, accumulating nearly $150k, but it’s Terje’s cash game proficiency that earned him a place among our list of rising poker stars.

Since the start of 2010, Augdal has been tracked as a high stakes cash game player on PokerStars under the moniker “Treken89”. His bankroll stayed about even for the first half of 2011, with two low points; one around October of the same year and another in February of 2012, but he always managed to strike back and as of May 2012 has a substantial winning record valued at more than $635k.

Raised in Tromso, Norway, Terje now resides in London. He began his online poker career on various European poker sites, namely those on the Prima Poker Network, but since 2009 he has made PokerStars his home away from home on the world wide web. Augdal’s online poker game of choice is high stakes Pot Limit Omaha, a mounting trend among professional poker players. When playing live, however, Terje tends to hit the No Limit Texas Hold’em tables more often than not.

Treken89 is credited for winning his largest cash pot on December 13, 2011, playing 6-handed $100/$200 PLO in a pot worth $204,989. However, Gavin “gavz101” Cochrane actually won the pot, having pushed his $35k all-in. “Treken89” and “long90110” split the remainder. Augdal’s largest true pot came just 5 hours later on the same day, another $100/$200 PLO game where Terje swept $189,749 from contributing opponents Jens “Jeans89” Kyllonen and “rafaelamit”.

December 13th was an exceptionally good day for Augdal as he continued to rake in enormous pots, including his 3rd largest credited pot worth $161,563, and again his 4th largest at $147,993. Terje continued to rally the next day by pocketing another $145,179 pot, his 5th largest to date. Each of these hands occurred on the $100/$200 PLO tables.

Terje Augdal has earned nearly $150k in live poker tournaments as well. He first cashed for $20,096 in Season IV of the EPT San Remo Main Event on April 5, 2008, finishing 25th out of 701 contenders. He then took a solid run at the Season VII EPT London Event #35, a NL Hold’em High Roller Turbo where he ended at the far edge of the bubble, 6th place, winning $52,893 on October 5, 2010. His latest live tournament cash was earned on January 14, 2012 at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. Terje was participating in Event #26, NL Hold’em High Roller 8-Max, where a 10th place finish granted the Norwegian poker pro $79,770.

One of Augdal’s most notorious moments, although it did not go in his favor, was his face-to-face showdown with fellow European and national poker phenom, Viktor “Isuldr1” Blum, in a SuperStar Showdown hosted by PokerStars.com in July of 2011. Each started with a $150k bankroll and maximum 2,500 hands to be played. Blum routed Augdal in 1,566 hands in the highly anticipated event.
